In Control is an advanced Allinq Digital technology. And a successful one! But only thanks to the input of smart people. 86 of them work in Prague. At our subsidiary Yungo, which has been around for seven years. High time for an interview with CEO Wilfred de Wildt.
”For Allinq Digital, we are perfecting In Control. Yungo takes care of the finishing, we are the human factor in the process. The collected data goes to the cloud. However, that processing is not yet so far automated, it still requires manual operations. We do that here in Prague.”
”We saw a huge wave of FTTH projects coming. We wouldn’t have enough people for that in the Netherlands. Outsourcing to India was very popular then. That didn’t seem very practical. Nearshoring to Central Europe did turn out to be a good solution.”
“Because there was a lot of knowledge and expertise there. Prague has a technical university participating in the Erasmus project, which means a lot of international student exchange. Another reason for choosing Prague is that it is a stable country, centrally located on the European continent. And the costs there are relatively low.”
“We not only offer our customers engineering services, but also think with them. We strive to simplify the process, making it cheaper for the customer or improving quality.”
“Broadly speaking, it involves two activities. On the one hand, geo-referencing: checking that the scanned jobs are exactly at the right GPS coordinates. On the other hand, we ensure usable output for the customer. Just a scan or point cloud is not enough. We turn it into a file that the client can use in its dataset. Digital information that is usable in the work field.”
“Take point cloud data. Yungo makes a drawing of that, so the customer can see exactly where the lines and cables are to integrate it into network administration. So we can determine whether something is at the right depth, on the correct side of the road, what the length is, and what pavement types there are. And all within minutes.”
“Yes, although the automation of processes is going further and further, it is still human work. Because there will always be unexpected issues that need to be addressed manually. Besides our role in the production process, we also help to further optimise that process. We try to make it smarter and more automated every day. Huge strides have already been made in recent months. Although it may seem like we are cutting our own revenue by doing so, I believe that if we make projects more efficient, it will ultimately add value for our customers.”
“Scanning is currently done with iPads and iPhones. I expect that in the future this will be possible with other common smartphones as well, so that more customers can use it. And at the moment, the resolution of the scans is still low, but I expect it to become much higher. I also expect that the time we spend on manual work can be halved or even decimated.”
”I expect we will soon be able to use it for other purposes as well. Now, for example, we only scan simple trenches, but this application can be extended to large construction projects, for example, where a camera continuously films everything for a daily 3D view. This allows the client to monitor progress and quality on a daily basis. So this can be deployed on countless other projects.”
”In every team, one person spends at least 25 per cent of their time thinking about innovation opportunities. Every day, we are working on the question: what can be done differently? And by working intensively with our customers, we create an intrinsic motivation to innovate. This naturally binds Yungo and Allinq Digital. Innovating and improving together takes us further together.”
